The script of the English alphabet holiday for the 2nd form
Theme: "The ABC-Holiday"
Objectives:
-         to make conditions for the active and creative development of the personality,
-         to stimulate students’ interest in learning English,
-         to develop students’ communicative skills,
-         to consolidate students’ knowledge of the English alphabet and the words in topics: "Colours", "Family", "Toys",
-         to form students’ abilities and volition to interact in group,
-         to bring up students’ responsibility and independence.
Conditions:
The holiday is held in the 2nd form. The class is divided into two teams. Both teams take part in each competition. The winners get one point (fruit) after each competition. Calculation of the points is held by all the participants in English.
Procedure
Teacher: Good morning, dear friends. Welcome to our ABC - Holiday.
Two teams step on the stage. Both of them say the name of their team.
«ABC-song» sounds.
Teacher: Meet our teams. They are the pupils of the 2nd form.
The 1st team is:
Team1: “Rainbow”.
Teacher: And the 2nd team is:
Team2: “Beetles”.
Teacher: Take your sits, please. (займіть, будь ласка, свої місця).
Dear children! Today we are having the ABC - Holiday. (Дорогі діти! Сьогодні у нас свято англійського алфавіту). And today we are having the excursion to the magic forest. (І сьогодні ми підемо на екскурсію до чарівного лісу).
But first listen to the poem and answer the question: “What season is this poem about?” ( Але спочатку послухайте вірш і дайте відповідь на запитання: « Про яку пору року йдеться у вірші?»):
All the leaves are falling down,
Orange, yellow, red and brown.
Falling softly as they do,
Over me and over you.
Team1, 2: It’s about autumn.
Teacher: Yes! It’s about autumn. And it’s autumn now. (Так! Він про осінь. І зараз осінь.) And going to school today I met a little girl. It was Autumn-girl. ( I, йдучи сьогодні до школи, я зустріла маленьку дівчинку. Це була дівчинка Осінь).
Look!
The Autumn-girl is coming to the concert hall.
Autumn-girl:
Summer is over.
September comes.
October and November
Are also autumn months.
Good morning, dear children! I’m very glad to see you. And I want to go to the magic forest with you. (Доброго ранку, діти! Я дуже рада вас бачити. І я хочу піти до чарівного лісу разом з вами) But it will be a competition. And I’ll give you different fruits for every task. (Але це буде змагання. І я даватиму вам різноманітні фрукти за кожне змагання).
Teacher: Are you ready to go? (Чи готові ви йти?)
Team 1, 2: Yes!
Teacher: Let’s go.
Teacher: We are going around the magic forest. (Ми йдемо магічним лісом). And the first animal we can meet is a Wise Owl. (І перша тваринка, яку ми зустрічаємо, це Мудра Сова).
The Wise Owl likes to gather different fruits and mushrooms. But she lost some of them. (Мудра Сова любить збирати різні фрукти та гриби. Але вона загубила кілька з них). Help the Wise Owl. (Допоможіть Мудрій Сові).
Competition 1. Missing letters.
Teacher: You see that this is the English alphabet. But some letters are missing. Please, put the letters into the right places in the correct order. (Ви бачите, що це англійський алфавіт. Але деякі літери пропущені. Будь ласка, поставте пропущені літери на свої місця і в правильному порядку).
Teacher: “Let us check”. (Давайте перевіримо).
The students name the latters of the English alphabet after the teacher.
The Autumn-girl gives the winners one fruit.
Teacher: The Wise Owl gave us two fanny bags for our help. Look inside them.
(Мудра сова дала нам два смішних мішечка за нашу допомогу. Подивіться всередину).
Competition 2. Funny bag.
Teacher: We have got funny bags with the words inside. You should take the words and make up sentences. (Ми маємо два мішечка зі словами всередині. Ви повинні взяти ці слова і скласти речення).
Students make up the sentences in teams. And then both teams read their sentences. The Autumn-girl gives the winners one point.
Teacher: Tell me, please. What animal are these sentences about? (Скажіть, будь ласка. Про яку тваринку ці речення?)
Team 1, 2: About Hare.
Teacher: Yes! The next animal we can see in the forest is a Little Hare. (Так! Наступна тваринка, яку ми можемо побачити в лісі, це Маленький зайчик.)
He decided to show us the place where the Magic Trees grows. (Він вирішив показати нам місце, де ростуть чарівні дерева).
Competition 3. Magic Tree
Teacher: And now we can see two trees. But they are the magic trees with the pictures. (Зараз ви можете побачити два дерева. Але це чарвні дерева з картинками). All the leaves are the letters. Please, match each letter with the picture. (Всі листочки – це літери. Будь ласка, приклейте кожну літеру до своєї картинки).
Students match the letters with the pictures. After that each team name their words.
The Autumn-girl chooses the winners and gives them one fruit.
Teacher: The Squirrels are playing under the magic trees. These squirrels like to talk very much. (Під чарівними деревами граються білочки. Ці білочки дуже люблять поговорити).
They want to play with you.
Competition 4. Say More Words.
The topics appear on the board. The teams say the words from these topics. The winners are those who says more words.
Topics: Toys, Сolours, Animals.
The Autumn-girl chooses the winners.
Teacher: The squirrels are very happy and want to dance with you. (Білочки дуже щасливі і хочуть з вами потанцювати).
Musical Pause.
The teams make two circles and dance to “Hokey-Pokey” music.
Teacher: Take your sits. Continue to travel. (Займіть свої місця. Продовжуємо подорожувати).
And the next animal we can see is a Dog. He is gathering fruit and mushrooms in the forest. (Наступна тваринка, яку ми зустрічаємо у лісі, це Собачка). He would like to speak English. But he doesn’t remember prepositions. (Він хотів би розмовляти англійською мовою. Але він не пам’ятає прийменників).
Help the Dog. Say the prepositions. (Допоможіть Песику. Назвіть прийменники).  Competition 5. Prepositions.
Pictures appear on the board. The teams name the prepositions represented on them.
The Autumn-girl gives one fruit to the team of the winners.
Competition 6. Let’s count!
Teacher: The Dog is very happy. And he gave us a big basket of fruit and vegetables. (Песик дуже щасливий. І він дав нам велику корзину фруктів та овочів).
Let’s count all of them. (Давайте їх порахуємо).
The pictures of different fruit and vegetables are on the board. The teams count them. One point is for the team which does this task better.
Competition 7. Riddles.
Teacher: Continue our excursion. (Продовжуємо нашу екскурсію).
And we can see a Fox. This is a very cunning Fox. (І ми бачимо Лисичку. Це дуже хитра Лисичка.) She gave me some riddles. They are about animals. (Вона дала мені загадки. Вони про тварин). Listen to the riddles and say what animals are these riddles about? (Послухайте загадки і скажіть про яких вони тварин?)
1). I am an animal. I am big and long. I am green. I can swim. (Crocodile)
2). I am an animal. I am big and angry. I am orange and black. (Tiger)
3). I am an animal. I am big and brown. I like to sleep. (Bear)
4). I am an animal. I am green. I can swim. I can jump. (Frog)
5). I am an animal. I am grey and very little. (Mouse)
6). I am an animal. I am grey and very big. (Elephant)
The Autumn-girl chooses the winners.
Teacher: Continue to travel. And the next animal we can meet is a Big Bear. (Продовжуємо подорожувати. І наступна тваринка, яку ми зустрічаємо, це Великий Ведмідь). He likes to listen to the Fairy-tales before sleeping. (Він любить слухати казки перед сном). Your home task was to prepare the Fairy-tales. (Вашим домашнім завданням було підготувати казки). Let’s show them. (Давайте їх покажемо).
Competition 8. Fairy-tales.
The teams show their fairy-tales.
The winners get one point from the Autumn-girl.
Summing up.
Teacher: Our excursion is over. We should back to school. (Наша екскурсія скінчилася. Ми повинні повертатися до школи).
It’s time to count your fruit. (Саме час порахувати ваші фрукти).
Teacher and students count the fruit of each team. Teacher names the team of the winners and gives the prizes.
Autumn-girl: Dear children! Thank you for the interesting excursion. But I should go. (Дорогі діти! Дякую вам за цікаву екскурсію. Але я маю йти). Good-bye.
Teacher: Let’s sing our favourite song for Autumn-girl. (Давайте заспіваємо Осені нашу улюблену пісню).
All the children sing the song “My Favorite Colour”.
Teacher: Here is the end of our ABC-Holiday. Thank you for your attention. Good-bye.

THE BREAD ROLL

A GRANDPA: We decided to bake the roll, to bake the roll, to bake the roll.

roll jumped on top of the red foxnose and started singing his song.

AN AUTHOR: But
the red fox "um"! And ate him.
